this article is titled "The revolution wont be televised"- 4 reasons why the future of filming is online" and the title is self explanatory. three things that i have learned while reading this article is that the audience is more intrigued if they connect to the film themselves. i also learned that the internet is actually more acceptable than anything else. lastly i learned that theres a sense of community with the director and the audience.
two opinions i have on this article is that it should have been more spread out and easy to read. also they should have added examples.
one question is that have they been trying this?

two opinions that i have about this article is that they should have put in more of Tim Burtons insight and there should have been videos out into the article.
lastly the only question i have is why just did Tim Burton create this story?

this week i have learned more in after effects. i'm really starting to get a hang of how things work! i have also learned what its like to be a teacher. we had shadowers for almost everyday this week and its hard work to teach. you lose your voice and you get so tired of saying the same thing all over again. i give my teacher some props.
what i would love to learn more in the future is expanding my skills in after effects for my short film. i still need to learn more tricks.
my link of interest this week is the new hobbit movie that just came out in theaters today called The Desolation of Smaug. it looks so good and I'm so excited to it! if you haven't heard of it yet be sure to watch this trailer in the link provided. by the way, happy friday the 13th!

two opinions i have reading this article are that i thought it gave very good facts and insight. also i feel like it was from a good view point from someone who really knows what they're talking about.

this article is titled "10 common elements of award winning screenplays" and the title says it all. while reading this article i learned that super heroes are more interesting when the have two problems to solve and not just one big one. i learned the more suspense the film has, the better. and lastly i learned if i film has a strong opening its more likely to catch attention to the public more.
two opinions i have on this article is that they had a lot of technical words that i did not understand, they should have added definitions to them. and also they didn't have any examples.
my question for this article is what type of movie will these facts apply for the best?

what i would like to learn more about in the future is more about the effects and advancing more into the program. its pretty fun and easy once you get a hang on things!

two opinions i have while reading this article was that i thought it was very well put and easy to read.

two opinions i have while reading this article is that they don't get any example of a major game in where they focus primarily on VFX. they should have put that in there. also, i really enjoyed the videos they put in the article.

what i would like to learn in the future is more about the camera and different types of cameras. its still difficult for me to know what buttons witch and how to get the right shot.

this article is called "How do film makers manipulate our emotions with music". before reading this article i did not know that how important background music just was to the film making industry. i learned that its also not highly stressed or talked about in films. most directors dont approve of the background music. in one of my favorite movies, Pyscho directed by Alfred Hitchcook, he told his composer to not add any music to the famous shower scene in the movie. the composer however, decided to add it. Hitchcook of course, changed his mind. i did not know that.
i really liked reading this article. it was interesting to me and i knew most of the movies they were talking about.
the only question i have is why is background music so important? they pin pointed the sounds in movies but didn't really explain why.

http://www.animationmagazine.net/top-stories/you-think-your-film-was-a-challenge/
this article is titled, "You think your film was a challenge?" this is about the hardest type of animation and its called, paint-on-glass animation. the most notable example of this animation is titled, the Old Man and the Sea. to do this the director, Bernard Lajoie, used oil paint on glass with every frame, modifies it under the camera and repeats. its basically more like stop motion but with paintings. that's more then 29,000 frames drawn. it took him about 6 to 8 months of building it from scratch.
i thought this was really cool and interesting! i watched the short on youtube and i really liked it. it was really good and i couldn't believe every second was hand drawn. i think more people should try this but i see why they don't. its very time worthy process but in the end its all worth it.

this article is titled, "Brave creator blast Disney for blatant sexism in princess makeover." this article is about how Disney gave the main character in Brave a new look. filmmaker, Brenda Chapman, complains that the new look is sexist and only attracting money. the original character was modeled by her 13 year old daughter. chapman was also the first women to win an award for an animated film.  she is very upset with this look and is looking for a change.
this article made me realize that Disney really is just money now. i didn't like disney to begin with, but now i have more of a reason to not like them. disney really is just a big scheme for money and they don't care if someone fights back because they have all the power. i like the old disney though. the old disney that had low budget films and shows and it was all pure fun. now its like a competition. hopefully things will change for her.

overall, i thought this was a very boring article. the writer didn't explain what crowdfunding is and didn't get to in detail about what is actually happening. instead we went right to the good part.

i really liked this article. i think its such a great idea and i would love seeing the full thing when it comes out! its cool how technology advanced so we can achieve ideas like this. i also liked how the article went straight to the subject and it cut to the chase.

http://io9.com/did-disney-steal-this-alice-in-wonderland-image-472820873
this article is titled, "Did Disney steal this Alice in Wonderland image?" obviously this article is about if Disney stole a drawing done but a girl named Katie Woodger. the artist expresses her disproval and disappointment towards disney for clearly stealing her artwork and not crediting her or asking to use it in anyway. her picture is being sold on bags and other disney stuff. looking for contact, she eventually got what she wanted and disney removed the image from copy righted things for example, bags. all though some T-Shirts are still being copied with her image. what Disney committed was a direct copy right violation.
i found this article very interesting. it also made me lose respect for Disney. i love this drawing and did see it on tumblr but never thought it was stolen. i hope she at least gets credit or notice from Disney.

http://www.techhive.com/article/2034072/interview-jonathan-coulton-and-greg-pak-on-their-kickstarter-project-code-monkey.html#tk.rss_all
this article is titled, "Interview: Jonathan Coulton and Greg Pak on their kick starter project, Code Monkey."its a new comic based on Coultons songs. "Code Monkey" will be about a programmer who's drawn from his cubicle farm of one of a supervilians business into a space mission. he and his boss head off in an adventure against a robot queen and their own general ineptitude. this may not sound like the song because they are using characters from other songs of his as well. while interviewing them they seem very excited and give a lot of details about the new series.
i liked this article. i'm actually excited to see this series. its sounds really cool and interesting! considering i had to listen to his songs over and over again in animation class working on a project. overall, it sounds really cool!

http://www.forloveofindiefilmmaking.blogspot.ca/2013/03/ten-pointers-to-improve-storytelling.html
this article is called, "For Love of Indie Filmmaking: Ten Pointers to Improve Storytelling Without Cracking Open a Bottle." this article will give you helpful hints to make your story more interesting. here are the points that they mention; 1, open with a book. 2, cut the backstory. 3, use impressive verbs. 4, use all your senses. 5, get into your characters head. 6, show don't tell. 7, make dialogue believable. 8, don't stereotype emotion. 9, use metaphors but avoid cliche. and lastly, 10, make the ending smack hard and stick with the reader.
i enjoyed this article because i always like writing new stories and reading new books. but i also like telling my own stories to people. i liked these tips because they weren't to serious but they do help out. i would recommend these tips to new writers interested in making an awesome story.

this article is titled, "Japanese Smell O-Vision TV Releases Scents with per-pixel Accuracy". the title is basically self explanatory. thanks to a japanese team of researchers we might soon be able to smell pictures. for example like a kentucky fried chicken ad or a garden full of flowers. even though this seems like a new thing, it has appearance nearly 50 years ago as well. theres are also cases documented of such thing over 100 years ago. now, not only can we project smells from the television but it can pinpoint were exactly the smell is located on the TV screen.
i really liked this article. i think its awesome how technology has advanced for us to achieve this finally.  i would love to have one of these TVs!

http://www.business2community.com/online-marketing/8-steps-to-successful-filmmaking-in-the-winter-0404372
this article is called, "8 steps to successful filmmaking in the winter". and as the title explains, its clearly about 8 helpful steps to successful filmmaking during winter. these steps should help you. the first one is to wear the right clothes. 2nd, bring extra batteries. 3rd, chemical hand warmers. 4th, keep an emergency blanket with you. 5th, acclimate the camera. 6th, underexpose your image. 7th, bring plastic bags. and lastly, drive a 4WD vehicle. that sounded confusing to me at first but if your filming in like a remote place, you want a way to get out and make sure your out.
i thought these tips were pretty interesting and helpful. they are a little common sense but hey, you never know. overall this article was short, sweet, and to the point.

http://www.animationmagazine.net/vfx/no-place-like-oz/
this article is titled, "No Place Like Oz."this about the recent movie The Great and Powerful Oz. they pull back the curtain a little bit to learn about a few of the vfx secrets. this film had the 3rd biggest opening of a movie in march to date. its about the wizards story in the classic movie, The Wizard Of Oz. adding some new digital characters to the story as well and polish Oz for a stereoscopic 3D inspection from todays jaded audiences. the supervisor, Scott Stokdyk says he grew up in kansas himself and always felt a special connection with the movie. the crafting of this movie and the new characters were not easy. the overall look was based on drawings by production artist Michael Kitsche (also helped with alice and wonderland and John Carter).
i saw this movie just a while ago. it was such a good movie. i was really impressed with all the animation and how it all turned out. i thought it would be kind of cheesy and a kids movie so to speak, but it turned out to be really good and worth seeing.

http://www.cartoonbrew.com/ideas-commentary/guest-commentary-the-life-of-an-indian-visual-effects-artist-78220.html
this article is titled, "Guest Commentary: the Life of an Indian Visual Artist". within the past 6 months, two of the biggest US visual effect houses have declared bankruptcy. Digital Domain and Rythum&Hues. the reason why is from outscoring VFX work to countries like India, China and Malaysia. the work goes overseas to to developing countries because they have lax labor laws that offer fewer work rights. every studio has a contract of 6 months. after witch, the studio has a right to keep the artist or remove them according to the projects requirement.
once again. i found this article very boring and uninteresting to read. its sad that all these industries are going out of business. but the article didn't give me enough to really convince me otherwise.

http://www.npr.org/blogs/alltechconsidered/2013/02/25/172910128/among-oscars-fanfare-visual-effects-industry-faces-difficult-times
this article is called "Amid Oscars, Fanfare, Visual Effect Industry Faces Difficult Times". its about an industry thats going downhill. in this business they helped hollywood make 10.8 billion last year. now many of the studios that create those effects are barley standing, and heres why. many countries pay millions to subsidize their family industry. those subsidize are just one of the many complex issues facing the industry. its also one of the few non-union trades in the movie industry. these studios are accepting work at insanely low costs and not making a profit. they are barely breaking even to complete work for the movies. there are a lot of studios filling for bankruptcy and artist are loosing their jobs. in some cases, not being paid for the work and hours they already put in.
in my opinion, i thought this article was very boring and could have used a lot more easy to understand information. you really had to think about where this was going. the topic should come easy and clear and this article did not do that for me.

this article is titled, "Motion Capture Filmmaking: Are Computer Generated Actors the Future of Hollywood?" this article is obviously about computer generated actors taking over the productions. they are more commonly used in films and very popular films in fact. Andy Serkis is best known has Gollum from The Lord of The Rings. motion capture filming is a technology witch renders human performances into highly detailed digital characters. the movie industry has always adapted to the changing times. incorporating costumes, props, sets, technology and imagination help bring the animation to life. Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) has brought in more viewers immensely. examples include the sharks in Jaws, and the dinosaurs for Jurassic Park. its really quite unusual how the actors become one of these computer generated characters. the actors where suits with sensory pins all over the body. you can get transformed to anything you wanted. for example, an animal, alien, demon or even a monster. but also i could be a passing fad as the article suggests. but Serkis says it is here to stay and is worth investing.
i really enjoyed this article. i do enjoy animated films form most. my favorite movies to watch are superhero movies witch have mostly CGI actors involved. its a cool technique to use  in the filming world.

http://entertainment.time.com/2013/02/08/star-wars-avengers-and-tvs-lost-generation-how-small-screen-visionaries-are-transforming-hollywood/
this blog article is called "Star Wars, Avengers and TV's Lost generation: How small screen visionaries are transforming Hollywood". the starting point for any directional career that involves running a billion dollar movie might just be running a TV series. this article tells us about two producers Joss Whedon and JJ Abrams about how they make it big. the idea of making a television series is just like making a movie, only shorter. but the two have different means when it comes to an emotional resolution coming faster with movies. the these cases, movies, like TV shows, must have episodic storytelling towards a larger part. who better to guide these projects then these two directors themselves.
i found this blog really boring. i was hard to understand. they could have talked more about the producers and what they wanted to do instead of giving random information.

http://www.filmschoolrejects.com/features/6-filmmaking-tips-from-quentin-tarantino.php
for my next blog this articled is called, "6 Filmmaking Tips from Quentin Tarantino." and obviously this blog is about tips about filmmaking. the first tip from director Quentin Tarantino is, "lie until people think you worked with Godard." this basically is just him saying you need to impress people to make it big. next, "good artist barrow." Tarantino says, "i steal from every movie ever made." next tip is, "make the movie on the page". write out a good script before directing the movie itself. make sure you are fully prepared. "Be impersonally personal" is his next tip. to make a good movie, try to make it personal. so you can get more involved and it would make it so much better to the audience watching the films. and lastly, "think outside the casting list." try to get a good range of caricatures and actors and actresses.
this article i found really boring. even though i love his works. one of my favorite zombie movie is his witch is Dawn of the Dead. he's a very good director but i didn't like his advice he gave about directing.  he sounded about to not-it-all-ish and he was giving out advice about lying.. thats not right. as a director, i think he is a genius. but as a person, not so smart.

http://www.fxguide.com/featured/the-inside-story-behind-disneys-paperman/
the first blog is titled, "The Inside Story Behind Disney's Paperman." its about there new animated short film about a man falling in love with a girl who get some help from paper airplanes. An oscar nominated in the best animated short category that merges CG and hand drawn animation. the character in the story is based off of the creator of the short, John Kahrs. Kahrs worked as a animator at pixar and walt disney studios before producing his Paperman idea.
i really liked this article and i found it very interesting to read. i actually watched the animation twice haha. the concept of it was really intriguing. i loved the story and how the airplanes gave it a certain twist. the animation was really good and realistic. the shading was out of this world. over all i thought it was a really good article.

for the next blog, this article is called "The Magic Kingdom Declares War on Skylanders and Minecraft." its about a new video game by disney. a multipart project that is equal parts skylanders and minecraft. its more complex then another game disney created. its called Disney Infinity. its agruably the most successful family oriented game in recent memory.  much like skylanders and minecraft, it has many adventures to go along with it witch makes the game more fun and entertaining to play.
my reaction to this article was that it was cool. i didn't really find it interesting but it was informing. i don't play disney video games but this one sounds fun. over all I'm sure its a great game to play for younger players.

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/21/movies/escape-from-tomorrow-at-sundance-scrutinizes-disney.html?_r=1&
this article is titled, "Its a Grim's World After all." its about Disney's twist on its movies. Randy Moore, without permission from disney created the new movie Escape From Tomorrow. his film is a horror fantasy that defies the typical disney movie. Escape From Tomorrow undergoes the difficulties confronting disney. this movie is about a family of four setting out to spend a day of fun at Walt Disney World. they ride the tea cups and pose for pictures at the cinderella castle. but the dad starts to lose it after receiving a phone call from his boss. he drools over underaged girls, thinks figures are evil and coming to life and pretends to shoot himself with a fake riffle. as you can imagine, Disney's reaction to this film was not so good.  all though the movie is dark, the cost was less expensive and manageable so its still being released.
my reaction to this article is that i found it very interesting! it sounds like a disturbing movie to see and i like the twist on how its not happy disney land. all though the story could be a little bit better, i think it has a pretty good concept.

this blog article titled, "The Animated GIF: Still looping after all these years" is about a decades old pictures taken by Eadweard Muybridge, created into a GIF. GIFs are short videos of frames looping over and over again. Tumblr is one site that often as a lot of these. i personally have a tumblr and i'm obsessed with it. i do reblog a lot of GIFs. mostly from movies and shows and just relatable topics. GIF was titled as the most used word for 2012. Gifs were invented by a man named Eadweard Muybridge back in 1879. GIFs continue to be used as the years go on.
while reading this article i found it very interesting and cool to read about. i use GIFs a lot and enjoy using them. when I'm on tumblr, i see them daily and reblog them daily and it makes me page really interesting to visit for my followers and other people. i hope GIFs don't die out anytime soon.
